Starting Over, Not Eating Crap Challenge
Carnivore Challenge Recap
On or near March 26, 2025, I completed the 90 Day Carnivore Challenge and shared the results in “I’m Done“. On that date, I weighed 145 pounds down from 16o pounds. And as I continued the next few weeks, I lost another three pounds. It wasn’t my weight loss goal, but I was stoked with the results. I was back in my favorite clothes and I felt great.

So I’m Not Perfect!
Contrary to popular belief, I’m not perfect. Wink, wink. Eating animal products is NOT the challenge for me. That was incredibly easy, but old habits die hard. I love going to a restaurant, bar or pub and saddling up to the bar for an ice cold beer, chatting with the other patrons or the bartender. And don’t get me wrong, during the carnivore challenge, I did this and drank club soda (except one time I let my hair down). Still, I love the flavor of beer and ice cold beer on a hot day, yum.
Since March 26, 2025, I have let my hair down, maybe too much. As result, I have the beginnings of “Rocking A Beer Gut”. That is one of my favorite songs; however, it’s not my favorite look. I did say, “I’m not perfect”.
Starting Over
Today was the first time on the scale in quite a while and to be honest I was almost afraid to look. I did gain some weight, but luckily, not as much as I was expecting. That being said, with the bad habits that die hard, if I don’t take control, I will most likely gain more of the weight back.
Here we go, letting it all hang out
June 17, 2025
Weight: 146.3 pounds (gained 3.3 pounds).
Glucose: 103
Blood Pressure: 118/70
Not Eating Crap Challenge
Again, the consumption of animal products with carnivore living (steaks, hamburgers, butter, eggs, and bacon) is easy for me. Whether we go out to eat or if I cook at home, carnivore food isn’t the “CHALLENGE”. It’s NOT drinking ice cold beer on a hot day, that is the challenge.
Another challenge for me as of late is Diet Dr. Pepper. When we go on road trips, we have gotten back into a habit of stopping in at the Wa Wa and getting a couple of diet sodas for the trip.
Changing Habits
One thing I’m certain of is I will always love the flavor of beer, but I can change the automatic habit of ordering a beer. Some of the habit is a social habit in addition to loving the flavor. Having a plan and a goal is key for me to change the habit.
When we want to get out and socialize with our neighbors at the local watering hole, my plan is ordering a club soda in a fancy glass. The fancy glass makes me feel like I’m partaking without actually partaking. It also doesn’t make others uncomfortable by not drinking with them. It will be a little secret between me and the bartender.
My goal is to make it to my “ideal” weight. And I have decided not to set a “number” on the scale. My ideal weight is whatever I feel good in my skin. The scale will just be a tool for confirmation of going in the right direction. Why I don’t want to put a “number” on the weight goal is to lighten the mental load.
Tools
When I was a contractor or private investigator, I used tools to help me do the job. In this part of my life, I use tools to get the job done as well. Four tools that I haven’t used in several weeks but started using them again in the last few days are Carb Manager, Pedometer, Health (iPhone app), and iHome scale.
When I use the app Carb Manager, it helps to keep me accountable with what I put into my pie hole. The pedometer app is a tool to help me reach my step goal. Although, I had to adjust my step goal as I have something going on with my foot, but that is another story for another time. The Health app linked to the before mentioned apps allows me to see all the data in one place at a glance. The iHome app is the app that came with the smart scale.
My Mantra
During the 90-Day Carnivore Challenge, I believed sharing my personal health data was worthwhile if it aided a single individual. It still rings true but I also realize by sharing my success and/or failures it helps me as well.
Cheers to Starting Over, Let’s do this..
See next time
